This special tour is designed for you to take a close up look at the Buddhist Sites and their importance in contribution of peace throughout the globe. This tour will take you through the most important and significant Buddhist site like Swyambhunath, Boudhanath, Kapan Monastery, Namo Buddha and many other monasteries within reach of the valley.
Swyambhunath is one of the most important Buddhist sites in the valley. Being one of the oldest monuments in the entire valley it is very sacred to the Buddhist followers. The followers of Swyambhunath are mainly the Vajrayana Buddhists from northern Nepal and Tibet, and the Newari Buddhist of central and southern Nepal. SwyambhunathStupa is a dom shaped stupa at a hilltop with two eyes looking down the Kathmandu Valley. These eyes are symbolic of God's all-seeing perspective. There is no nose between the eyes but rather a representation of the number one in the Nepali alphabet, signifying that the single way to enlightenment is through the Buddhist path. Next important site is the BoudhanathStupa which is one of the largest stupa in the whole Asia. Boudhanath has been major site for the Tibetan Buddhist that has sought refuge during the ongoing war in Tibet. The BoudhanathStupa is also one of the oldest shrines that exist in Kathmandu. The stupa is believed that the stupa most probably contains the relics of a Buddhist sage, perhaps parts of the Buddha’s body (bones, teeth), or sacred texts and other ceremonial objects.
